Tonga’s Prime Minister’s residential house has been partly destroyed by fire this morning Thursday 23 April 2015. The cause of the fire is not yet established. Reliable sources have confirmed that a relative of the family was at the House while others left for work this morning.
The structure of the house remains intact while the interior when viewing from outside seems completely destroyed. Contact was made to Tonga Fire Services but advised that only the Fire Commissioner could relay further information to the media and public. Investigation by Police and Tonga Fire Services is underway to identify the cause.
Luckily no one was hurt or injured. This sad incident took place while the Hon. Prime Minister and the First Lady are currently overseas on medical reasons.
