Cardiff Blues legend Taufa’ao Filise has begun life after rugby Featured
5 Juy, 2018. Cardiff Blues legend Taufa’ao Filise has begun life after rugby.
The Tongan tight-head retired at the end of last season after a 12-year career with the region, during which he made a record 255 appearances.
He bowed out in perfect style, playing his part in the Challenge Cup final victory over Gloucester in Bilbao on his last outing in the colours.
Now he has moved into a new job, but he will still be a regular at the Arms Park after joining the team at Dragon Signs.
He has secured a one month trial working with the signage company, who have been a partner of the Blues since 2012, sponsoring the region and handling signage and branding around the famous ground.
The Welsh Rugby Players’ Association played a key role in sorting out the employment for Filise, who is now looking forward to his first day.
“I am very grateful to the guys at Cardiff Blues, Phil from the WRPA and Rhys Harrington at Dragon Signs for giving me this opportunity,” said the 41-year-old prop.
“It is always difficult taking that step from playing rugby to life after rugby and this gives me security and a foot in the door for potentially a long-term career.
“I loved every minute of playing for Cardiff Blues and I’m now looking forward to working with one of their sponsors.”
