Team Tonga won 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze in Judo Featured
10 December, 2017. Update from Port Vila from Chef de Mission ‘Amanaki Fakakovikaetau that the Tonga flag was raised at the medal ceremony for Judo in which Finetu’ui Moala won gold for Tonga in Moala and Heimuli Faka’osi also won bronze each to close out their participation.
Team Judo will depart Port Vila today back home. It was also warming that Moala’s parent (Pita and Ngataialupe) were present to witness and celebrate the achievement of their son at the Games.
The Men’s Team Tennis lost in the team event to Vanuatu yesterday and now they have a chance to go for bronze in the same event.
The Women’s Football team won their pool match against the Solomon by hammering them 3-1.
Team Tonga women’s football played with authority yesterday and looked as the competition entered the final week.
Our Men’s Rugby 7’s team starts their event today and will complete tomorrow.
Manager Filo ‘Akau’ola is very confident that they would do well and they will go all out for a very good result.
There are 10 teams in the rugby 7’s entries and Team Tonga rugby will also try to qualify for the Hong Kong series and the world circuit.
All athletes and officials are in good health and well apart from few athletes with muscle ache but they are well looked after by the medical team of Dr Toakase and Physio Alison
