President of the German Parliament, Prof Dr Norbert Lammert, visits Tonga Featured
7 October, 2016. The President of the German Parliament, Prof Dr Norbert Lammert, will visit Tonga between Saturday 8 and Monday 10 of October 2016 in connection with his visit in New Zealand.
Prof Lammert has been a member of the German Parliament since 1980 and became its president in 2005. He is a member of the German CDU (Christian Democratic Union). Prof Lammert will be accompanied by a delegation including MP Dr Johann Wadephul.
Invited by the Speaker Lord Sialeʻataongo Tuʻivakanō, Prof Lammert and the delegation will be visiting the Parliament of Tonga, where he will give a speech and the Free Wesleyan Centenary Church, where a service will be held celebrating the 140th anniversary of the German-Tongan Treaty of Friendship.
Prof Lammert will meet with Crown Prince Tupoutoʻa ʻUlukalala, Prime Minister ʻAkilisi Pōhiva, Soane Patita Paini Cardinal Mafi and other distinguished personalities.
