Ambassador for Women and Girls arrives in Tonga
23 November, 2022. The Australian Ambassador for Women and Girls, Ms Christine Clarke CSC, is visiting Tonga for the first time this week since taking up the position in January 2022.
As Australia’s Ambassador for Women and Girls, Ms Clarke works to ensure that gender equality and empowerment is a central focus of Australia’s international engagements and program delivery.
“We are delighted to have the Ambassador for Women and Girls in Tonga this week to highlight some of the great programs we deliver, strong women leading at all levels and male champions helping take this agenda forward.” Australian High Commissioner, HE Rachael Moore.
While in Tonga, Ms Clarke will meet with a range of stakeholders in the public and private sector to discuss shared priorities for progressing gender equality and women’s empowerment.
Her program will include meetings with women leaders in business and civil society, and partners implementing key programs that address key issues such as women’s leadership and representation and gender-based violence.
