Her Majesty Queen Nanasipau’u Advocates for Women’s Health

6 November, 2022. Her Majesty Queen Nanasipau’u spoke at length on the needs of Women’s Health and welcomed the support from the Arab Women’s Authority to assist in providing much needed assistance in the areas of diagnostic services and screening services for the women of the Kingdom of Tonga.

His Majesty King Tupou VI and Her Majesty Queen Nanasipau’u were the honoured guests at a function on Wednesday 2nd of November 2022 at the Four Seasons Dubai Hotel to mark the Partnership with the Arab Women Authority in addressing Women’s Health in the Kingdom of Tonga.

In her speech to mark this much welcomed partnership, Her Majesty Queen Nanasipau’u stated that the marked percentage of cancer related deaths (25%) in the Kingdom of Tonga were mainly caused by a lack of diagnostic services and screening services that often resulted in the discovery of cancer in the late fatal stages.

Furthermore, she noted that in the past 10 years, although awareness had grown on the topic of Breast Cancer and many women are becoming more vigilant and aware of the signs and symptoms of Breast Cancer, much work is still needed as other forms of cancer affecting Women are also increasing in numbers.

Since their establishment in 2000, the Arab Women Authority has supported many innovative and women’s health related initiatives across the developing world through their Women Development Fund.

The signing of the Friendship Agreement between by His Excellency Ambassador Akauola of the Kingdom of Tonga on behalf of Her Majesty Queen Nanasipau’u and His Excellency Mohammed Aldulaimi, General Secretary of the Arab Women’s Authority, envisaged support towards the Women’s Health in the establishment of a Health Centre for Women in the Kingdom of Tonga.

Her Majesty Queen Nanasipau’u also received the honorary position of Presidency of the Women’s International Football Association adding her voice to promote, develop and support Women of all ages and cultural backgrounds in the spirit of cooperation, friendship through Football and sporting activities.
