HTHH affected households to benefit from portable solar kits donation Featured
9 May, 2022. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for MEIDECC Hon Poasi Tei received 504 portable solar kits and phone charging kits donated by the Sunergise and Clay Energy Fiji on May 3.
The supplies were handed over to the Tongan Government by the company’s local representative Mr Nikolasi Fonua at NEMO’s warehouse at Matatoa.
Hon Tei said, “The recovery effort from the HTHH volcanic eruption and resulting tsunami still remained a huge challenge for the Government to assist the affected communities and individuals, and the timely and kind offer donated by Sunergise and Clay Energy is much welcomed.”
“The 504 portable solar kits and phone charging kits will provide light and connectivity to the affected communities. On behalf of the Government, I thank Sunergise and Clay Energy for their kind contribution.”
The solar lighting and phone-charging kits will be distributed by MEIDECC’s Department of Energy in collaboration with the company’s local reps to those that still remains vulnerable after the HTTH eruption especially those still living in tents and do not have direct access to electricity.
Once fully charged, the 1.5W NIWA Starlight One portable solar lighting and phone-charging kits will provide up to 45 hours of runtime.
