Australia and NZ consider including Pacific Islands in travel bubble

31 May, 2021. Australians would be able to holiday in Fiji, Tonga and other international destinations under a new plan to extend the Trans-Tasman travel bubble to include the Pacific Islands.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison landed in Queenstown on Sunday ahead of talks with Jacinda Ardern where the leaders are expected to discuss allowing quarantine-free travel to other countries.

An extension of the travel bubble would be welcome news to holiday-starved Aussies and Kiwis and would give a much-needed boost to struggling tourism operators in the Pacific.

“We are supporting our Pacific family and the idea of a bubble that goes beyond New Zealand and Australia is a real possibility,” Morrison told reporters.
