It was also an opportunity to partake on an introductory training to Linux memory forensic delivered by expert in Cybersecurity Mr. Adli Wahid from the Asia Pacific Network Information Center (APNIC).

Participants from government ministries, public enterprises and private sectors attended this event.

In his opening address Mr. Ma’u said, our professional and personal lives today are increasingly dependent on the internet, and it makes computer networks and the internet a critical part of that ecosystem and it needs attention and protection.

“But there are other networks that pre-date computer networks and that is the human network, it’s how we collectively were able to accomplish great things; through sharing of ideas, learning and experience (both good and bad) and sharing of tools.”

He told the participants Over the years the Ministry of MEIDECC have made many attempts to facilitate the establishment of a Tonga Cybersecurity Association, “but I should stress that this is not a work for the ministry alone, this needs to be driven by you the community for the community.”

Mr. Ma’u hoped that this event “will be a conduit for participants to discuss ideas, share experiences and hopefully re-establishing the Tonga Cybersecurity Association that will benefit the community and the efforts to ensure a Safe and Secure Digital Environment for Tonga.”
