Distaquaine Pele Tu’ihalamaka appointed as new CEO of the Ministry of Trade and Economic Development

24 March, 2020. The Public Service Commission is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Distaquaine Pele Tu’ihalamaka as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ministry of Trade and Economic Development, with effect from 23rd March, 2020 for a period of four (4) years.

Mrs. Tu’ihalamaka holds a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Economics and Public Administration from the University of the South Pacific, Fiji (1998) and a Masters of Intellectual Property Law from the Queensland University of Technology, Australia (2010).

She was first recruited to the public service in 1999 in the then Ministry of Labour, Consumer and Industries now known as the Ministry of Trade and Economic Development (MTED). She has since served in various senior management leadership positions within the same ministry.

Prior to taking up her appointment as Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Tu’ihalamaka was the Deputy Registrar overseeing the Registry and Intellectual Property division of the Ministry. In the past, she has acted on numerous occasions on the CEO position overseeing the key functions of the Ministry of Trade and Economic Development.

The Public Service Commission welcomes Mrs Distaquaine Pele Tu’ihalamaka appointment as the CEO for Ministry of Trade and Economic Development and wishes her a successful and a fulfilling term in Office.
