External Examinations for High School Senoir Students Commence this Week Featured

Nuku'alofa, November 9 2015. More than 4,000 senior students will sit the external examinations for high school students in Tonga this year. This has been confirmed by the Chief Education Officer from the Ministry of Education’s Exam Unit, Mr ‘Isikeli Oko.

Mr Oko said 552 Form 7 students are sitting the South Pacific Form Seven Certificate (SPFSC) paper, 1,647 Form 6 students will be taking the Pacific Senior Secondary Certificate and 1,905 Form 5 students will sit for the Tonga School Certificate.

Form 7 students started their exam on Wednesday this week  and that will be completed on Friday, November 13. The Form 5 and Form 6 students will start their exams on Tuesday, November 10, with the exams running for two weeks.

There will be six Exam Centres for Form 7 students. The main exam centre is the Hall of Kuini Salote College for Tongatapu, with the others being the ‘Eua High School Hall , Vava’u High School Hall, Ha’apai High School, Niuatoputapu High School and Niuafo’ou High School.

There are 20 Exam Centres for Form 5 students, with 13 centres for Tongatapu, three at Vava’u and one each at Eua, Ha’apau and the Niuas.

For Form 6 students the main Exam Centre here in Tongatapu is the Hall of ‘Apifo’ou College plus three other exam centres for compulsory subjects, which is at Beulah College, Liahona High School and Saint Andrew’s High School.

This year’s exams will see change with students being graded with their raw marks instead of the Standardized Marks used previously.
