Climate Change Trust Fund conducted training program in Vava'u Featured
Participating members of the Climate Change Trust Fund-Training program, Fakamelino Hall, Neiafu Vava’u
4 April, 2018. The Climate Change Trust Fund (CCTF) has approved five (5) projects altogether for Vava’u, in which four (4) of these projects are Water Tanks Projects and one (1) project for a renovation of an evacuation centre.
With regards to the Water Tanks Project; Vava’u High School, Feletoa, Tefisi and Pangaimotu, were privileged to have been chosen for this project. Fifteen (15) water tanks will be presented to each villages that was approved to be funded from the CCTF. One tank collects approximately five thousand (5000) litres of water. The fifth project approves is a renovation of an evacuation centre for natrual disasters for Holeva.
The purpose of this training was to confirm with the villages whom their requests for assistance have been approved from the Climate Change Trust Fund Board to further enhance their understanding on the process and procedure in regards to the fund and the maintaining and monitoring of the project.
CCTF is part of the component of Climate Resilient Sector Project (CRSP) which is funded by the Asian Development Bank in collaboration with the Climate Change Department operating under Ministry of Meteorology, Energy Information, Disaster Risk Management, Environment, Climate Change and Communication (MEIDECC).
The training program was held at Fakamelino Hall, Neiafu Vava’u, led by Feleti Fa’otusia and Vaha’akolo Palelei with the help of officers from the Department of Climate Change, Lucy Fa’anunu and MEIDEC staff at Vava’u as well as town officers and representatives from village committees whose project proposals were approved. However, the Water Tank Project contract was successful signed today between MEIDECC and the successful applicants.
