Mr. Kaveinga Tu’itahi appointed part-time Commissioner of the Public Service Commission Featured

24 July, 2019. The Public Service Commission is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Kaveinga Tu’itahi of Haveluloto, Tongatapu as Part Time Commissioner of the Public Service Commission with effect from 19th July, 2019 for a period of four (4) years.

Mr Tu’itahi holds a Diploma in Professional Ethics (2005) from the University of Auckland, New Zealand and a Bachelor of Arts with triple majors in Public Administration, Politics and Sociology from the University of the South Pacific, Fiji (1982).

Mr Tu’itahi’s career in the public service began in 1971 when he was appointed as an Assistant Clerk Interpreter for the then Crown Solicitors Office. He was further promoted in the same Ministry to the positions of Clerk Interpreter (1973) and Court Interpreter (1976). Mr Tu’itahi was further transferred to the post of Senior Executive Officer (1978) at the Prime Minister’s Office followed by promotions within the same Ministry including Principal Training Officer (1982) and the position of Assistant Secretary (1983).

In 1984, Mr Tu’itahi resigned from the Prime Minister’s Office and moved into the Public Enterprises sector – where he was Corporate Secretary to the Board of Directors of the (then) Tonga Electric Power Board (now Tonga Power Limited) as well as serving in multiple other Senior Management positions from 1984 to 2003. Later (2010 – 2014), he was called back to the sector as a private independent Consultant to lead an organizational / corporate reform, rationalization, revival and development project assignment for Tonga Timber Limited (Tonga Forest Products Limited).

From 2005 to date Mr Tu’itahi has over fourteen (14) years’ experience as an independent private consultant operating his own private business called Tavana Consulting Group – providing a wide spectrum of consulting and training / development services and expertise in a variety of areas / sectors – for clients both within Tonga and across the Pacific as well as internationally.

    Ko 'eku toki fanongo eni oku appoint ha taha ke ngaue fakataimi (Commissioner). 'Oku fakatupu fifili 'aupito e fo'i appointment koeni. Oku ikai puli ene taukei ngaue, ka 'oku faikehe aupito a e me'a koeni, kae hange ko e lau te tau toki sio kotoa pe 'amui e fo'i 'uhinga 'o e me'a ni.
