New Chief Executive Officer for the Ministry of Tourism Featured
11 February, 2019. The Public Service Commission is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Sione Finau Moala- Mafi of ‘Api-Ko-Kape’, Hala Tupoulahi, Nuku’alofa as Chief Executive Officer for the Ministry of Tourism with effect from 7th February, 2019 for a period of four (4) years.
Mr Moala-Mafi holds a Master of Tourism (Marketing) (2000) from James Cook University, Australia and a Bachelor of Arts in Socio-Economic Development (1987) from the University of the South Pacific, Fiji.
Mr Moala-Mafi has extensive years of work experience in the Tourism sector. He was first appointed to the public service in 1990 as an Educational and Training Officer, Tonga Visitors Bureau. In 1999, he was promoted to the position of Deputy Director of Tourism (Marketing) for the same Department. In 2009, he exited the Public Service and was again re-appointed in April, 2016 to the position of Deputy Secretary for the Ministry of Tourism where he currently serves to date. However, prior to his re-appointment in 2016, he was employed by Tonga Communications Cooperation Ltd (TCC) as from August, 2011 to April, 2013 as a Sales and Marketing Manager.
The Public Service Commission welcomes Mr Sione Finau Moala-Mafi as the Chief Executive Officer for the Ministry of Tourism and wishes him a successful and fulfilling term in Office.
