Chinese Ambassador Opens Home Economic Classroom in Beulah College Featured

Nuku’alofa, 8 December 2015. In in the 120 years celebration of Beulah College, H.E. Huang Huaguang, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Kingdom of Tonga opened the new home economic classroom in Beulah College funded by Chinese government.
In his remarks, H.E. Ambassador Huang said, he’s glad to open the new home economic classroom in the happy occasion of the 120 years celebration of Beulah College and confident that the new classroom will play a positive role in enhancing the teaching environment of Beulah and improve the skills of the students to better prepare for the future employment.
H.E. Ambassador Huang also mentioned that last September, Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the United Nations Development Summit and announced a package of important measures to support the development of developing countries, including commit 2 billion US dollars to set up South-South Cooperation Fund to help developing countries to reach the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
He believes China and Tonga can take this great opportunity to expand the cooperation in various sectors including education. In recent years, China supports the development of Tongan education sector by helping construction of new schools, providing education facilities, training teachers as well as offering scholarship.
