Reckless Driver Hit 17-year-old Male Pedestrian at Nualei
3 February 2023. Police on Wednesday, 1 February 2023 around 1:00 pm responded to a road accident on Taufa’ahau Road at Nualei where a 17-year-old male pedestrian from Tatakamotonga sustained severe injuries after being hit by a moving vehicle.
It is confirmed that the driver, a 52-year-old male from Haveluloto was heading West on Taufa’ahau Road and without due care while overtaking the vehicle in front, he hit the victim who was crossing the road.
Medical reports from Vaiola Hospital confirm that the victim will undergo an x-ray examination today, as he is believed to suffer some internal bleeding to his right side, where he was hit.
Magistrate Mafi ordered that the accused be remanded in custody until the medical examination result is released.
Police investigation into the incident continues.
