Indigenous Australian Under-16 rugby league team visits Tonga this week Featured
5 Ocotber, 2018. An Australian Indigenous New South Wales under-16 team is in Tonga this week (4-9 October) on a cultural exchange program organised by the National Rugby League (NRL) in Australia.
The team will play two games against the Tongan national U16 team during their visit.
This cultural exchange aims to provide a pathway for young Indigenous boys to develop their personal and professional capabilities as a means of improving rugby and life skills.
The team’s program will include visits to several government primary schools where they will run physical recreational activities with school students.
Yesterday, the first game between the NSW vs Tonga U16 team kicked off at the ‘Atele rugby field, where the final score was tied at NSW 18 – Tonga 18.
The final game between the two teams will take place on Saturday 6 October, 2pm at the ‘Atele field.
