206 NOC’s confirmed support for Recommendation 28 - IOC Olympic Agenda 2020 Featured
16 November, 2016. The delegates for TASANOC at the XXI ANOC General Assembly in Doha had joined other 205 NOC’s in support of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Recommendation 28 of Olympic Agenda 2020.
The document aims to provide the National Olympic Committees (NOC’s), the National Sports Federations (NF’s) and their constituents with a number of reference elements to allow them to develop a dialogue with public authorities at the national level. It may also serve as a tool to facilitate cooperation agreements between relevant parties, if this is deemed necessary and appropriate.
With the historic recognition of sport as an “important enabler” for global social and economic progress in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by the United Nations, the IOC had created a platform so it could open doors for its member NOC’s to reach out for its respective governments, stakeholders and partners and thereby hope to support in strengthening the role of sports in the country.
Tonga’s (TASANOC) delegation to the XXI ANOC General Assembly in Doha is led by Lord Tupou, President and accompanied by Takitoa Taumoepeau, Secretary General and Salote Sisifa, Representative of Women-in-Sports Commission.
