23 September, 2016. The Tonga Table Tennis Association (TTTA) is happy to welcome our overseas Table Tennis expert Jessica Macaskill. Jessica is in Tonga for 3 months from 20th September through to 20th of December, to assist in developing the national sports structure of TTTA.
This course is funded through Olympic solidarity and has the support of Tongan Table Tennis Association (TTTA), Tonga Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (TASANOC), International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) and the Oceania Table Tennis Federation (OTTF).
Throughout the 3 months there are 5 key areas the programme will focus on; Primary schools programme, Coach education, Competition structure, Para Table Tennis activities and National squad structure.
The programme aims to introduce basic skills of Table Tennis to school aged children, develop player pathways and produce athletes that will be competitive at both national and international level. This includes developing athletes for key international events such as the 2018 commonwealth games, the 2019 Pacific Games and Tokyo Olympics 2020.
Within the next few months there will be lots of exciting opportunities for people to get involved with. These include; weekly tournaments, the 2016 Tongan Table Tennis Open, Table Tennis Open day which will be known as ‘Table Tennis have a go day’, Para Table Tennis activities and also daily/regular coaching for players of all levels.
We ask people to look out for the exciting opportunities and get involved.

The above course was approved by TASANOC Executive Board and submitted by Interim Secretary General during meeting with IOC Olympic Solidarity in Rio during the XXXI Games of the Olympiad which they approved for funding and other logistics arrangement.
