Gold Coast Titans sign Warriors giant Konrad Hurrell Featured
26 May, 2016. The Gold Coast continues to add star power to their roster after signing former Warriors centre Konrad Hurrell on a deal for the remainder of this season and 2017.
The 24-year-old has become the club’s third mid-season signing adding to John Olive (South Sydney) and Nathan Peats (Parramatta).
Foxsports.com.au revealed back in February that the 104kg powerhouse was on coach Neil Henry’s wish list with a deal finally agreed on 35 days before the June 30 transfer deadline.
“It’s great news for this club,” Henry said.
In Konrad’s 71 NRL games he has scored 41 tries which alone shows what a dynamic attacking player he is.
“He will add depth to our outside backs which has suffered with the long-term injuries to David Mead and John Olive.”
“At 24 he has his best football ahead of him and I look forward to him developing further on the Gold Coast.”
Hurrell will move from New Zealand and join his new team early next week.
Part of the release agreement with the Warriors is that Hurrell will not be selected to play in round 17 when the Warriors and Titans face off this season.
Before agreeing to join the Titans, Hurrell took to social media to apologise for his “unprofessional behaviour” during his stint with the NRL side.
It has been an amazing journey here at this amazing club the @nzwarriors pretty sad that I won't be here anymore but looking forward on my new journey! Can't explain how much grateful I am to be apart of this club and just wanna thank the club @nzwarriors for the opportunity and for everything. He has also represented Tonga four times, including in the 2013 World Cup.
