11 May, 2017. The Japanese Speech Contest 2017 was held on Wednesday 10 May in Nuku’alofa with outstanding students awarded prizes by Hon. Penisimani Fifita, Minister for Education and
Training and His Excellency Mr. Yukio Numata, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Tonga.

31 March, 2017. The 7th National Soroban Competition in Nuku‘alofa was won by ‘Eua Government Primary School soroban students. Prizes were awarded by Honourable Siaosi Sovaleni, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Tonga, who was the guest of honour at the competition held at the Queen Salote Memorial Hall on Thursday, 30 March 2017.

13 March, 2017. H. E Mr. Yukio Numata, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Kingdom of Tonga congratulated recipients of the Government of Japan’s MEXT Scholarship for 2017, Ms. Sivoki Lia Latu Fonua and Ms. Sandy Siutiti Tu’ipulotu at a dinner at his residence, on Thursday 9 March.
