Thank you Dr Okusitino Mahina , for your enlightened remarks.I realise my saying that expatriates do a better job of running businesses, may seem biased ,but it's true, we would have to be delusional to think otherwise.Yes we may have more people with degrees , but does that really make them honest ? Pride , greed, glory seeking , and the list goes on , is a weakness that's endemic to most third world countries .Politician should be infused with patriotic fervor in their quest for the betterment of the country they serve and it's people. We can quote famous words by renowned people , till we are red in the face but. will it improve the situation, the ignominious debacle that the government of the day is encountering ???? i It's unfortunate and sad, because Tonga have all these highly educated sons and daughters who could run the country, but due to differ from each other in both idiosyncrasy and party loyalty, this makes it hard to work to gather for the benefit of all .We can see here how difficult it is for us to work out a compromise , because as a people we will at every opportunity give priority to our own first even if that person is not competent to hold such a position . IN the west this is known as cronyism , we called it " Fakakainga" than there's corruption we called it " Takitaki " .. because, we as a people have from time immemorial been paying homage to kings and queens who were sons and daughters of gods that came to earth and took mortal women's to wife so its normal doing things, that way. When we apply for jobs we give gifts to who's in charge so he'll let me get the job. This apply to all walk of life from government to the private sector The poor sucks up to the rich , We as Polynesian never dealt with money , till the white man bought it to our attention . We were a bartering community, but than money 'came into our lives, that's what 'cause the problems. No one's denying Tongan has the capabilities and brains to govern, problems is cronyism, nepotism, this must STOP ! so that all government business can be transparent .
We must stop raking up muck from the past and move on, the people running the government should concentrate on finding projects so that people find work. The saying "The devil makes work for idle hands " comes to mind , and we've seen the results . We could say with out a doubt that this a KAKISTOCRACY??????? God bless Tonga
