“ I had been thinking about this mysterious - "Tonga down internet" - and it can be many reasons. Lots of theories & conspiracies so far. But Based on 3 infos, that I have got so far, i.e it's 80 kms away from Tonga, the fibre optic is being cut & Magnetic storm.
So, I put on my former nautical hat & try to make sense of what could cause the cut in that 80 km spot + eliminating other possible causes ?.
1. I looked at the sea contour around that 80 Kms spot, through electronic nautical chart & Google Maps. The depth is around 9,842.52 feet = to about 3 kms or 1.86 miles. That is way too deep for a ship's anchor to cause the cut.
2. Because of the deep depth, it is not a fishing trawler (as none in Tonga or Fiji) nor a long liner. Not even a deep bottom fishing can fish that depth or their lines & hooks can cut it.
3. Is it a Submarine? No. As that area is vulnerable to seismic/undersea volcanic activity.
4. Is it seismic activity? Maybe. But no volcanic activity reported on that area during the weekend leading on to Sunday. And I am pretty sure the fibre optic is made to withstand that hazard.
5. DEFINITELY NOT CAUSE BY MAGNETIC STORM OR LIGHTNING AS PIVENI PIUKALA ALLUDED TO. BECAUSE, 1. THERE WASN'T ANY BAD WEATHER IN TONGA DURING THE WEEKEND & 2. IF IT WAS, ALL NEIGHBORING COUNTRIES' ELECTRONICS, PLANES, SATELLITES, RADIOS, TV, ETC WILL BE DOWN/DISRUPTED/AFFECTED. NOT JUST IN TONGA. 3. AND WHY IS THE MAGNETIC STORM ONLY SHUT DOWN THE INTERNET/PH ON A CABLE THAT IS UNDER THE SEA, BUT EVERYTHING ON THE AIRWAVES WERE STILL OPERATIONAL?
SO WHAT COULD IT BE? MAYBE MAN MADE. BUT FOR NOW, THE MYSTERY CONTINUES UNTIL THE REAL EXPERT ARRIVES IN TONGA. AND WHAT WILL BE THE TCL/GOVERNMENT NEXT EXPLANATION/LIES? ”
